FEES AND FUNDING OPTIONS
To make your time at the htk academy as stress-free as possible, we’ve put together a few tips to assist you with financing your education in Germany or online.
Monthly fees
We understand that tuition fees can be a challenge for young students, that is why at the htk academy we give you the chance to pay your fees monthly. The monthly costs start at €584*.
*Ask your student advisor how you can get additional discounts, e.g. by paying for the entire semester.
Part-time jobs
As a student at htk academy, you are indeed eligible to work part-time. That is why our classes are designed to allow you to work alongside your studies. If you are opting to study on campus in Hamburg, you can earn up to €556 without any tax deductions.
Scholarship for trainees
Since 2024, the pilot program „Gifted Trainees and Specialists“ (BAFF) has been running under the support of gifted education foundations.
In this pilot phase, the foundations are developing their own offerings with specific content, eligibility requirements, and application procedures. Current information is available on the foundation websites and is updated continuously:

Tax deductibility
Tuition fees can be claimed as special expenses for school fee payments under §10 Abs. 1 Nr. 9 EStG. You should consult with a tax advisor or your local tax office for guidance.
Support from family
After a conversation with your family, you might receive some financial support. If your family wants to learn more about us, feel free to schedule an appointment!
Schüler-BAföG
German citizens can apply for Schüler-BAföG (student aid) as a grant, meaning you do not have to repay it! The relevant authority is typically the Office for Educational Support in the city/district administration where your parents live.

Educational loans
There are different options available in terms of educational loans. The most common is the KfW Education Loan (173), and from the 3rd semester onward, you can also apply for a private loan through KfW Bank.
Overall, eligible citizens can receive up to €300 monthly. For one-time expenses like purchasing expensive equipment, you can request an advance payment. These amounts are deducted from the total funding.
